How To Steam Clean Carpets

If you have kids than you understand just how difficult it is to keep your house clean. They run around the house with their shoes on and caked in mud, they drag in sticks and leaves, and they manage to spill every colorful food and drink that they are consuming. Before you know it what was once a brand new carpet now looks older than you.

Instead of trying to replace the entire floor why not simply find an effective way to clean it? Steam cleaning is one of the best ways to clean a carpet. The machines you use are designed to use high amounts of steam and a special cleaner to reach deep into the roots -of the carpet. The brushes will kick the dirt up to the surface and wipe it away.

Take out all of the furniture in the room. Make sure that you work on room at a time because it can take a few hours for the carpets to dry. Vacuum the entire area to remove any loose dirt on the surface of the carpet. All stains need to be pre-treated with a stain remover and worked into the carpet. Leave it on for a few minutes – but do not vacuum it up.

Fill the water canister on the machine to the fill line indicated on the inside of it. Add the cleaning solution that will work with the particular machine you are using. Using the wrong soap could damage the machine. Place the canister back onto the machine and make sure it is secured.

Begin in a corner of the room that is furthest away from the door. Slowly work your way backwards and forwards. Make sure that you move in slow, steady moves. When you push it forward you will release the soap onto the carpet. When you move backwards the rotating brushes will work it into the carpet. Work in small section and make sure to change out the water as needed.
